"Our children will not know it's a different country.
All we can hope to leave them now is money." - Larkin
"I don't understand how you all can be so callous!" - definitely not Larkin
Don't give up hope, Adrian. I went to the Chapters bookstore in downtown Vancouver on Wednesday, the bookstore located across the street from the courthouse where the kangaroo court case was being tried. I wanted to see what they were doing with Mark Steyn's book, if they were even carrying it. They had several dozen copies available this time, unlike when it first came out in hardcover. It was even in their main display area on the ground floor, in their "hot topics" section, at central eye level to boot, not tucked away on a bottom corner shelf. Although I hadn't planned on it I quickly decided to buy a copy (even though I already owned the book), the first time in I-can't-remember-how-long I've ever purchased anything in a Chapters. I figured I might as well enjoy the chance while I can...
Knowing downtown Vancouver, they're probably selling them in advance of a big community bonfire...but still, glad to hear it, charles, and thanks so much for commenting!
